New in This Version
* When you buy VGB-Windows, you now also get VGB-MSDOS.
* Added DirectDraw-based full screen mode to VGB-Windows. Press [ALT]+[ENTER] to switch in and out of the full screen mode. Use it with caution, as DirectDraw is notoriously unstable.
* Z80 now executes one opcode after being taken off HALT and before calling an interrupt handler. This has fixed Final Fantasy Legend while keeping everything else operational.
* Optimized sprite rendering a bit.
* Fixed several bugs in the MIDI logging code and the Windows MIDI sound driver.
* Added fast-forwarding option ([PAGEUP], also [F9] in Windows and Unix).
* Added TV scanline simulation to VGB-Windows anf VGB-MSDOS.
* Added debugger to VGB-Windows ([F1]).
* Window size and position are now saved on exit in VGB-Windows.

(posted by [mailto:luvdance5@aol.com uzplayer] - 10:56)

I have recently got an email from a PSX Developer regarding the plausibiltiy of a Gameboy emulator for the PSX. He also emailed the official stance on Sony regarding if something like that was planned. Due to a disclosure agreement that this person needs to follow, this person will remain anonymous. Please do not email me regarding who this person is. Any email regarding that will be promptly deleted. Here's the email:

"I haven't heard anything about this until I read your page.
As a licensed PSX developer, I'm usually kept up to date on
new products through Sony's developer website (ie:
PocketStation), but there's nothing new about this."

"Theoretically, it *is* possible, even from the memory card
port. The bandwidth to the memory card port is probably not
fast enough to handle realtime accesses, but that doesn't
mean you can't dump the whole ROM (or even parts of it) to
main RAM and emulate from there."

"Obviously, there would also have to be a "startup" CD which
actually had the emulator on it, as the PSX OS knows nothing
about reading code from the memory card port. (The port on
the back of the PSX interrupts the usual OS boot process and
can contain code there, however.)"

There you have it. The official stance from Sony (at least from the developers side) is that there is no GB converter available or planned from Sony. That doesn't mean it exists, but it's just not made by Sony.

(posted by [mailto:luvdance5@aol.com uzplayer] - 09:11)

It has come to our attention that Sony now is developing a commerical product for it's Playstation console tenatively called "The Game Booster." Apparently it's a Gameboy emulator that will plug into your memory card slot and is not completely compatible. The price for it will be $35.00

Honestly, I think it's fake information. I have heard rumors of a Game Boy Converter/Emu for the PSX for quite some time but I seriously dont think that it is possible to hook something like that up through a memory port. Perhaps through the expansion port in the back, but the memory port from my limited technological knowledge will not be able to stand the throughput of something like that. Of course, everyone is welcome to prove me wrong and if I am proven wrong, all the better to make me look stupid. Thanks to Mojojo for the information.

Update: According to an email from Dkknight, there is such a thing as the Game Booster. You plug it into the Serial I/O Port of your PSX. He apparently got it from EBWorld, but when I did a search, it did not come up. I did however do a search on Yahoo and discovered that a company called Datel (based out of the U.K.) does indeed make a product called the Game Booster but for the N64 (according to a review of the product on n64.ign.com.) If this converter is for real, it's definitely illusive. Thanks to Dkknight for bringing this up to my attention.
