|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Changes in 2.3.6 (December 24, 2007):
Brief summary :
+ More than 25% emulation speedup vs Bochs 2.3.5 release!
- Thanks to Darek Mihocka (http://www.emulators.com)
for providing patches and ideas that made the
speedup possible!
+ Up to 40% speedup vs Bochs 2.3.5 release with trace cache optimization!
- Lots of bugfixes in CPU emulation
- Bochs benchmarking support
- Added emulation of Intel SSE4.2 instruction set
Detailed change log :
- CPU
- Added emulation of SSE4.2 instruction set, to enable use
--enable-sse=4 --enable-sse-extension configure options
to enable POPCNT instruction only use configure option
--enable-popcnt
- Implemented MTRR emulation, to enable use --enable-mtrr configure
option. MTRRs is enabled by default when cpu-level >= 6.
- Implemented experimental MONITOR/MWAIT support including optimized
MWAIT CPU state and hardware monitoring of physical address range,
to enable use --enable-monitor-mwait configure option.
- Removed hostasm optimizations, after Bochs rebenchmarking it was found
that the feature bringing no speedup or even sometimes slows down
emulation!
- Merged trace cache optimization patch, the trace cache optimization
is enabled by default when configure with --enable-all-optimizations
option, to disable trace cache optimization configure with
--disable-trace-cache
- Many minor bugfixes in CPU emulation (both ia32 and x86-64)
- Updated CPU instrumentation callbacks
- Bochs Internal Debugger and Disassembler
- Many fixes in Bochs internal debugger and disassembler, some debugger
interfaces significantly changed due transition to the param tree
architecture
- Added support for restoring of the CPU state from external file
directly from Bochs debugger
- Configure and compile
- Renamed configure option --enable-4meg-pages to --enable-large-pages.
The option enables page size extensions (PSE) which refers to 2M pages
as well.
- Removed --enable-save-restore configure option, save/restore feature
changed to be one of the basic Bochs features and compiled by default
for all configurations.
- Added new Bochs benchmark mode. To run Bochs in benchmark mode execute
it with new command line option 'bochs -benchmark time'. The emulation
will be automatically stopped after 'time' millions of emulation
cycles executed.
- Another very useful option for benchmarking of Bochs could be enabled
using new 'print_timestamps' directive from .bochsrc:
print_timestamps: enable=1
- Added --enable-show-ips option to all configuration scripts used to
build release binaries, so all future releases will enjoy IPS display.
- Enable alignment check in the CPU and #AC exception by default for
--cpu-level >= 4 (like in real hardware)
- SF patches applied

- Enable alignment check in the CPU and #AC exception by default for
--cpu-level >= 4 (like in real hardware)
- SF patches applied

Introduction: -------------- This project is based on the atari 2600 opensource emulator called stella. You can find the original sources on its sourceforge page: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=41847 This version uses the same sources than the original, there are only some changes on the button mapping, in order to use with the gamecube gamepad. It uses gc-linux to run on a gamecube/wii, and the SDL libraries for this system. It will boot using the ARAM filesystem method You can find the latest version of this project on its official forum here: www.nacionarcade.net | |||||

Changes in version 2.0.5
------------------------
* changed the debugger window layout so that there is a larger window
with only two tabs; also more information is displayed, and the
mouse wheel can be used for scrolling the disassembly and memory
dump views
* implemented Lua scripting in the debugger; this makes it possible to
write complex rules for breakpoints, but can have other uses as
well, since the script can read and write memory, I/O ports, and CPU
registers, in addition to having access to the standard Lua library
functions
* added a simple monitor to the debugger; the supported commands
include assemble, disassemble, trace, memory and I/O port dump and
modify, printing and changing CPU registers, memory compare, copy,
fill, search, load and save, and more (use ? to print the list of
available commands, or ? N for help on command N)
* improved the audio quality of AVI recording, at the expense of
making it somewhat slower
* added new command line option for selecting the GUI style and colors
* a few minor bug fixes and improvements

|---|---|---|---|---|---|
New 0.8.0 beta version based on 0.7.2a sources (Notaz release) Changes/Bug fixes/Updates - now it's possible to put uae folder in any directory (before uae4all crashed further the third subdirectory) - no more problems with long name file and no limit for number of files in the rom folder - changed browse system file for the roms dir: now it's quick with plenty of rom files too. Besides Up/Down (keeping pushed to move on), there are Left/RIght to jump 16 files and L/R shoulder to jump 32 files - improved user GUI code (W.I.P.) and reduced menu font (thanks to Eraso) - improved mouse speed - improved user GUI navigation (buttons repeat) - added "Save General configuration" and "Save configuration for current game" - added "Save Script for current game": it makes a script file to launch a specific game directly (using GMenu2X or default GP2X menu). If it used during emulation (having enabled it in the "More Options" menu), it makes automatically an icon taking a screenshot from the current game (32x32 px) - added Eject option for all drives - added X button to go back to the main menu (such as START/HOME) - added everything new option for the command line - now emulator remembers last selected device input (mouse, joystick, or keyboard). For more comfort, default device is mouse. - default games navigation folder is now "roms" - compiled with "profiling" trick (thanks to notaz: http://www.gp32x.com/board/index.php?showtopic=28490&hl=gcc%20dynamic%20profiling&st=15) - added new menu "More Options" with the following settings: - Video Mode (moved from main menu): to choose between PAL and NTSC video mode (it needs to reset the emulation) - Autosave (moved from main menu): it allows in-game saves - Status ln (moved from main mnu): shows fps and drives status - Memory Chip Size: it's possible to choose between 512KB and 1MB RAM chip (it needs to reset the emulation) - Number of drives: it's possible to choose from 1 up to 4 drives. It needs to reset emulation to take effect. IMPORTANT! To insert adf disks into each drive (in Filemanager section), the buttons are: B for DF0:, Y for DF1:, A for DF2:, X for DF3: - Use Autofire: helpful in some shooter. If it's enabled, you can switch on/off during emulation with Y or stick click - Enable Screenshot: when enabled, it's possibile take a screenshot with Y (it works only if joystick device is selected). Images are saved with progressive name (shot0.png, shot1.png, etc.) in "screenshots" folder (png format) - Enable scripts: when enabled, you can make a script file during emulation pushing Y (it works only if joystick device is selected) - Skip intro: when enabled, skip the uae4all splash screen - Kickstart: you can choose between 1.3, 2.0 and 3.1 kickstart version. To take effect it needs to reset the emulation. Moreover, the kickstart roms must be put into "kickstarts" dir and called "kick13.rom", "kick20.rom", "kick31.rom". If there aren't during the uae boot, the emulator will search "kick.rom" in the main folder - Enable HW scaling: it's useful to be visibile the whole screen for some games such as Project X, T-Racer, All Terrain Racing, Tearaway Thomas, GemX, Benefactor, etc. - Joystick config: besides the standard controls, it's possibile to use X for UP direction and B to fire (and viceversa) Noldor (elfonol@gmail.com) | |||||

Since v2.1.0 * A bug in the Z80 emulation which caused Starglider to hang has been corrected. * The PCKEY utility (in JOYCE) did not work. It has been repaired. * Initial support for compiling under MacOS X has been added. * The ability to present a folder on the host computer as a PCW drive, without any additional PCW software. This is still a very new experimental feature use it with caution! * Native LOGO support has been corrected and should now work. * Native GSX support has been restored, based on original Digital Research source code. * Various bugxes in the oppy drive emulation. * JOYCE doesn't hang if Trivial Pursuit is run with the emulated CPS8256 interface attached. * JOYCE now emulates several joystick models. * The code has been updated to compile without modication on systems with GCC 3.x and SDL 1.2.6. * A bug has been xed in the creation of new .DSK les. * Garbled text in the boot screen has been xed. * The utility .DSKs provided actually contain all the les they should. * Windows GDI printing was printing at a third of the correct size; this has been corrected. * Help text corrected if you press F1 on the boot screen. * TheWindows version now works if there are no printers set up on the system. | |||||

2007/12/14 1.30 released
- The processing part of "CPU(HuC6280)" and "BG drawing" were sped up. I
think that processing lightened in some measure of a personal computer
environment so not fast.
- Operation speed & timing of CPU has been elaborately adjusted. At "Mugen
Senshi Valis" of the game over scene, the problem that the screen had
occasionally freezed was solved. At "Power Sports (World Sports
Competition)" of the news scene, The disorder of one frame was solved.
I think the operation timing have approached a real machine in other
software, too.
- "Mute PSG Channel 1"-"Mute PSG Channel 6" was added to "Volume" menu. When
"Output WAV file", use it when you want to mute a specific sound (shot
sound and jump sound, etc.).
- In "File->Setting of Output WAV->Start at the Next Tune" menu function, at
the tune to which the sampling sound is multiused, The problem that it was
not occasionally recognized to have moved to the following tune was
corrected.
- The CD-ROM access processing part has been improved. When resetting it
with "SELECT+RUN" button while accessing CD-ROM, the problem that had been
occasionally freezed was solved.
- Processing that decided drawing beginning line was brought close to a real
machine. In "Mizubaku Daibouken (Liquid Kids)" , when the thunder item was
taken, the width of the shake of the screen was brought close to a real
machine. At "Dragon Ball Z" of the opening demo, the problem that the
screen has fallen into disorder was solved.
- In "Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari", when playing with a fast CD-ROM drive
environment, the problem that ADPCM voice of the elder sister in the
bookstore became interrupted occasionally was solved.
- In "Nekketsu Koukou Soccer Hen", the problem that the character display
had occasionally received in the status display part was solved.
- Additionally, a detailed part has been improved and corrected.

V0.63 BE - FOL, GnoStiC, cmf update - Removed alot of un-needed code, to gain usable memory (GnoStiC and cmf) - Optimized code to gain speed (GnoStiC) - Added alot of defines to gain speed (FOL and GnoStiC) - Added define to allow 10.5MB of memory, not limited to 6MB anymore (FOL and cmf) - Changed the delay and latency on sound to gain speed (FOL) - Changed PSPUAE cpu cycle unit to 1, gave stable speed increase (FOL) - Removed 0 from Auto Frame Skip, pointless as it slows emu down when hitting 0 (FOL) - Removed Interpol code as it was broken since 0.60, removing this gave speed increase (GnoStiC) - Fixed memory selection, now only valid amiga memory configs are selectable (cmf) - Fixed Crash, where if no Backdrop was present PSPUAE would crash PSP (FOL and cmf) - Fixed Interrupts setting in sound, as it was still produing sound (FOL and GnoStiC) - Added AutoZoom check to PSPUAE reset command, so each reset will turn off AutoZoom. This stops the crash with certain configs, when AutoZoom was on. Simply Press and hold L & R Trigger and SELECT after reset to turn it back on (FOL) - Removed support for E / X-Loader and Tiff exploits as it was causing crash in Custom Firmware's. A seperate E / X-loader tiff version is released seperately (FOL) | |||||

|---|---|---|---|---|---|
openMSX 0.6.3 (2007-12-09) -------------------------- This release contains several new features and improvements related to sound. All sound chips are emulated at their native frequency and resampled using advanced resampling techniques to the desired output frequency (typically 44.1 kHz). The advanced resamplers improve the sound quality a lot, because they are free of aliasing distortions. There are three resamplers you can choose from: "fast", which produces approximately the same results as previous openMSX releases, "blip", which produces better sound and is still quite fast and "hq", which produces the best sound but takes a lot of CPU power. Since the quality difference between "blip" and "hq" is very small and the speed difference quite large, "blip" is the recommended resampler and the new default. Many thanks to Blargg, the author of Blip_Buffer, not only for the code but also for explaining the principles behind it. More sound related improvements include stereo balance settings for each sound chip and the ability to record individual channels of sound chips. For PSG we even introduced some sound effects: vibrato and detune can be enabled to get a fatter sound. Try this in Penguin Adventure! Thanks to the blueMSX Team, we were able to quickly bring some new features: emulation of the VLM5030, the sample chip used in the unreleased Konami game Keyboard Master and emulation of the synthesis part of the Yamaha SFG-05 sound module (keyboard and MIDI support is still missing). Also on the non-sound department, the code of the blueMSX Team enabled us to add some new features: Gouda SCSI, MEGA-SCSI, ESE RAM, ESE SCC and WAVE SCSI. Note that the SCSI emulation is still experimental, so make sure you don't use it to store data of which you don't have recent backups. Last but not least: a lock-up bug was removed from the Windows version, which could occur on dual core and hyperthreading CPU's. New or improved emulator features: - SDLGL-PP renderer (OpenGL 2.0) can now do RGBTriplet scaling in hardware. - Several resampling algorithms now available: hq, blip and fast; the first two eliminate aliasing. - Channels of sound chips can be individually recorded and muted. - Sound chips now have a stereo balance setting instead of a mode (left, right, mono). Because of this, the <sounddevice>_mode settings have been replaced by <sounddevice>_balance settings. - PSG sound effects: vibrato and detune. You can use the new "psg_profile" command to select known good combinations, or experiment wiht the PSG_vibrato_percent, PSG_vibrato_frequency, PSG_detune_percent and PSG_detune_frequency settings directly. Thanks to Wolf for the idea and his feedback on experiments. - Several small optimizations, mostly in SDLGL-PP renderer and CPU emulation. MSX device support: - Partial support for Yamaha SFG-05 (only the YM2151, no keyboard and MIDI). - Support for the VLM5030 in Konami's Keyboard Master. - Improved accuracy in SCC emulation. - Support for ESE devices: MEGA SCSI, ESE RAM, ESE SCC, WAVE-SCSI. - Support for Gouda/Novaxis SCSI. - Support for password cartridge. - Support for the Super Lode Runner mapper. - Real support for the Halnote mapper. Thanks to the blueMSX team. Build system, packaging, documentation: - Added support for building a statically linked executable on Windows. - Added support for building a backwards compatible executable on Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard). Thanks to BouKiCHi. - Added support for DESTDIR, which should help packagers. | |||||

-Fixed debug dialog memory/disassembly after AMS fixes
-Substantial improvement to performance of debug dialog
-Fixed the Breakpoint remove button (previously did not remove breakpoints)
-Fixed debug dialog display of VDP registers (potential crash)
-----------------------------------------------
-TODO: Fix debug dialog (not enough interactivity)
-TODO: Fix 99/4 support (works fine if it's the first system loaded! You can select it, quit Classic99,
then start it again to see 99/4 running.)
-TODO: ship a loaded classic99.ini with all the carts and my compatibility notes,
but make it only load the cart into the menu if the files exist!
-TODO: Add disk management dialog/menu GUI
-TODO: Add user cartridge manager (started)
-TODO: Rewrite file system to buffer files and include disk image support. (Covers the following)
-TODO: Files are unfortunately opened/closed many times per access (to be fixed)
-TODO: STATUS is probably returning the wrong or incomplete information on program files (verify on real TI)
-TODO: EOF detection is hacky and won't work if reading multiple files at once
-TODO: add 'update' support to the file system so that the Assembler works
-TODO: Still chasing a problem with ARC303 writing bad compressed files
-TODO: add an About the TI page to the program (a pic and description)
-TODO: make the AVI recording record the correct buffer - be it the base or filtered. (make
sure to stop recording if filtering is changed mid-stream, due to buffer size change).
-TODO: Add support for PIO (LPT) and RS232 (COM) access, possibly including low level
-TODO: Fix the P-Code card emulation
-TODO: Fix multiple scanning of joysticks (scan on timer tick?)
-TODO: Verify speed of real TI by measuring with the 9901
-TODO: Implement cassette ports on sound card? (would require precise timing!)
-TODO: add an option to see the full width in TV mode

MSXAdvance V0.3 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is a MSX1 emulator for the GBA. It was just a quick and dirty hack from Cologne. Features: A lot of games can actually be played. Missing: Not all keys are mapped to the GBA. Correct sprite collision and overflow. Screen mode 3. Savestates. Bugs: Screen mode 1 is not correct. The sound sucks. Probably a lot more. V0.3 - 2007-12-03 (FluBBa) Added 64kB of RAM instead of 32kB. Fixed initialization of horizontal position of keyboard. Fixed initializing of all CPU regs on reset. Fixed pushing and poping of AF register (BC Quest for Tires II). Optimised some of the SBC instructions. Optimised DAA opcode. Optimised one of the SRA opcodes. Optimised tile rendering. V0.2 - 2006-04-30 (FluBBa) Added a virtual keyboard. Added better keymapping. Added SCC sound emulation. Added 32kB RAM instead of 16kB. Fixed Multiboot transfer. Fixed blending when used as plugin. Better update timing in PAL mode. Better game mapper detection. V0.1 - 2006-03-30 (FluBBa) Initial release. V0.0 - 2006-03-07 (FluBBa) Started Coding. | |||||
| LisaEm v1.2.6 Sources | history | 03/12/07 | Apple Lisa | - | edit/admin |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
--- 1.2.6 Released on
2007.12.03 - fixed win32 rawbitmap issues, this should speed up the display
quite a bit. Linux rawbitmaps don't work yet, just show a blank
white display.
2007.12.01 - fixed bugs on skinless on OS X. Issue with wxBitmap, it needed
to be filled in before using. Some update to wxWidgets changed
the default from the default being white, to an alpha background
causing the whole display to fail to update at all since the
data inside the wxBitmap was invisible.
- bug report - libexpat was accidentally turned on in the OS X
version of LisaEm, this is not needed by LisaEm's use of
wxWidgets, it will be removed via --without-expat in
wxWidgets' configure script.
